About Ikot

The University of the Philippines provides the best education in the country with its students paying only a fraction of the full cost, subsidized greatly by the government. Over the years, it has produced thousands of successful alumni who are now excelling in their respective fields. And for most alumni, UP education provided financial security.

UP has been struggling ever since with its budget to continuously offer top-notch education to the ever-growing community. Alumni support has been a great help to build new facilities, support programs, and others. As it stands, only less than 1% of the alumni community was able to give financial support to the university.

The Ikot Campaign seeks to tap all alumni to give back at least one (1) sem worth of their education. This gives them a chance to help the university while leaving their own legacy. And the Ikot Campaign will combine all these individual contributions to create large-scale projects that make a lasting impact on the university.

One Ikot = One Payback

In the Ikot Campaign, UP alumni are asked to give back at least one “Ikot” or one sem worth of their subsidized education, at current value.

UP estimates its cost of education at ₱ 90k per sem per student. On average, a student today pays around ₱ 20k+ per sem, which saves them more than ₱ 60k. This saving is what the Ikot Campaign seeks from the alumni to give back to the university to help current scholars. .

For campaign purposes, one ikot is valued at ₱ 50k. One ikot donation gives an alumnus a chance to have their name permanently engraved at the facility or project he/she wishes to sponsor, and take home a commemorative item as token of appreciation.

The Ikot Campaign facilitates these Ikot donations to be used to fund big projects such as the Epsilon Chi Health & Fitness Center.
